The private debt fund NuCapital is one of the first funds of its kind established in Lithuania, operating since April 1, 2019. The fund’s goal is to generate stable and high returns by providing loans for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) primarily in Lithuania, though opportunities are not limited to the domestic market. The fund can also finance companies across the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Investment Principles
The fund’s team follows clearly defined investment principles:
• The majority of loans to SMEs are granted for a period of 6–24 months, secured by collateral acceptable to the fund, applying strict asset valuation criteria and maintaining a conservative loan-to-value (LTV) ratio of up to 70%.
• A smaller share of loans may be issued with a higher loan-to-value ratio or without collateral, but only if other risk-mitigating measures are applied.
• The fund may also invest in other short-term financing instruments, such as factoring or the acquisition of receivables, to ensure efficient use of funds.
Over more than six years of operation, NuCapital fund has invested in loans worth tens of millions of euros, mainly for real estate development, infrastructure, and business expansion projects. In addition, the fund finances innovative solutions, such as the development of an electric vehicle charging network in the Baltic States.
